Public Provident Fund — a government-backed long-term savings scheme in India with a 15-year lock-in. Offers tax-free returns (~7.1% p.a.), qualifies for 80C deduction up to ₹1.5 lakh/year. EEE status (Exempt-Exempt-Exempt).

Example

Investing the maximum ₹1.5 lakh/year in PPF for 15 years at 7.1% = corpus of ~₹40 lakh, entirely tax-free.
