Finance Dictionary

Strike Price

The fixed price at which an option holder may buy (call) or sell (put) the underlying asset. It is set when the contract is created and does not change, regardless of how the underlying moves.

Example

A Nifty 24000 CE gives the holder the right to buy Nifty at 24,000; it has intrinsic value only while Nifty trades above that level.
